Equality and Diversity Challenges
With the abolition of the Audit Commission and the TSA's growing ever closer, this is an ideal opportunity for housing organisations to not only learn more about those provisions of the Equality Act 2010 due to come into force from I April 2011, but to feed back directly to The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) on any challenges they have found in implementing the provisions that came into force last October.
This one day workshop will be chaired by HDN's Chief Executive, Clifton Robinson and facilitated by Neil Martin, the EHRC's Regional Adviser for Yorkshire. Some of the topical issues to be covered will include:
. How housing organisations can best try to ensure that decisions involving spending cuts are as fair as possible in terms of their equalities impact.
. What steps housing organisations should be taking now to ensure that they are as well prepared for the Public Sector Duty requirements due from April 2011.
. Reminding organisations of the October 2010 provisions of the Equality Act and informing the EHRC about issues that have generated problems for organisations in implementing.
. How the EHRC's Guidance and Codes of Practice can assist housing organisations to implement Equality Act requirements.
. Human Right Guidance to the housing sector in the light of the Weaver case.the latest developments.
